TECHNOLOGY..........

In “Conversations with God”, by Neale Donald Walsch, there is a warning I think of. I refer to it as the Atlantis passage, and I've quoted it a few times before." As I have said, this isn't the first time your civilization has been at this brink,"

God tells Walsch. "I want to repeat this, because it is vital that you hear this. Once before on your planet, the technology you developed was far greater than your ability to use it responsibly. You are approaching the same point in human history again. It is vitally important that you understand this. Your present technology is threatening to outstrip your ability to use it wisely. Your society is on the verge of becoming a product of your technology rather than your technology being a product of your society. When a society becomes a product of its own technology, it destroys itself."

Gingrich and Romney want to do away with bilingual ballots! What?!?!?!

Gingrich and Romney Want to Say Adios to Bilingual Ballots

The GOP front-runners endorse a plan that could disenfranchise millions of voters—including their own.

| Mon Jan. 30, 2012 3:00 AM PST
As Republican primary voters head to the polls in Florida on Tuesday, both GOP front-runners have endorsed a policy that would contradict existing law and could disenfranchise millions of voters across the country.
During a recent debate, both Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney supported getting rid of bilingual ballots when the topic was brought up by the moderator. "I would have ballots in English," Gingrich said. "And I think you could have programs where virtually everybody would be able to read the ballots." Romney agreed. "I think Speaker Gingrich is right with regards to what he's described," he said.
That wasn't much of a stretch for Gingrich, who once called Spanish "the language of living in a ghetto." Yet their glib demand for English-only ballots would require amending the Voting Rights Act and doing away with hard-won legal requirements that have existed for decades. It's a sharp turn away from the Bush administration, which despite a spotty civil rights record filed more ballot access cases on behalf of non-English speakers than any administration had before.
"We used to have poll taxes, we used to have whites-only primaries, we used to not let women vote," says Myrna Perez, senior counsel with the Brennan Center's Democracy Program. "Policies that would make our ballots less accessible to Americans based on what language they speak would be at odds with that historical arc towards expanding the franchise."
Bilingual ballots are no abstract issue in Florida, which has a sizeable population of Americans whose first languages are Spanish or Haitian Creole. "The Haitian population is a voting bloc, the Hispanic community is a voting bloc," says Carolyn Thompson, a Florida-based activist with the Advancement Project, a civil rights group. "They pay taxes, they've won the right to vote in their language."
Under the 1975 revision of the Voting Rights Act, communities whose non-English speaking populations reach a certain level have to provide voting materials in alternate languages.

There are 238 jurisdictions covered by the Voting Rights Act's language requirements. It's hard to tell how many voters would be impacted by the repeal of those provisions, but the census estimates that there are more than 19 million eligible voters who come from the communities the law is meant to serve. Ten counties in Florida are among them, four of which went Republican in the last presidential election.
"Some of these ballot measures involve very complex legal language," Camila Gallardo of the Latino civil rights organization National Council of La Raza points out. "Some of the language is hard to understand even for fluent English speakers, let alone if your first language isn't English."
Republicans have long had a complex relationship with Florida. It's the site of great conservative victories, like George W. Bush seizing the presidency in 2000 and Marco Rubio crushing his challengers in 2010's Senate race. But it's also the kind of place where moderates like Jeb Bush and Charlie Crist thrive, a cosmopolitan state that anti-immigrant ex-GOP congressman Tom Tancredo once compared to the Tower of Babel. That's why Gingrich followed up Monday's debate with an appearance on the Spanish-language station Univison in which he called Romney's draconian approach to curtailing illegal immigration an "Obama-level fantasy," and why Romney turned Gingrich's remarks about Spanish being "ghetto" into a campaign ad. In Florida, a Republican who comes off as anti-immigrant or anti-Hispanic could see their political ambitions cut short fast. It's a difficult balancing act for members of a party that is seen as increasingly hostile by Latino voters, who are becoming more influential in American elections.
"They try to appeal to Latinos and Florida and during the general election, but everywhere else they're trying to be tough guys," says Dr. Gary Segura of the national polling firm Latino Decisions. "It's going to be very difficult for them to have it both ways."
More than 1 out of 10 Republican primary voters is Latino in Florida, so it's possible that Romney and Gingrich's commitment to English primacy, if applied, could disenfranchise part of their own base in the state. Or they could just be banking on the possibility that their voters are more likely to be completely bilingual.
"The Cuban population heavily concentrated in the Republican Party are bilingual, fluent, are likely to be able to hang with that," says Segura. "Some number of Republicans would be disenfranchised, but the largest number would be first-generation Puerto Rican Democrats."
Changing federal law isn't easy of course, and the Voting Rights Act was renewed in 2006 for another 25 years. By the time it's up for consideration again, Republicans might have even less interest in ensuring that language minorities have equal access to the ballot box, even in Florida.
"For a long time, Cubans were staunchly in the Republican column, although that demographic is really changing," says Gallardo. "[Today] you see a lot of young Hispanics registering with no party affiliation."

Razib Khan: Newt Gingrich IQ More Verbal Than Analytical

Is Newt Gingrich as smart as he thinks? He’s obviously not dumb like Rick Perry, or ignorant like Herman Cain. But I think Newt is a “high verbal” type who can impress the dull more than actually get anything done. I believe that Mitt Romney is somewhat higher in I.Q., but more critically he probably has a better practical skill set. Newt is not one known for contingency and coherency, and that’s a problem.

"Just the Facts, Ma'am!"

FOSTER CARE IN N.C.: "to be or not to be"?!?!

In my opinion, this disclosure in general has been a long time coming. For me, exposing this is the "takeaway" good news of the month here in North Carolina. While it was posted in a Hickory, NC paper, by no means is my rant focused on this agency, limited to Hickory, or even to North Carolina.

Are some foster kids over-medicated? Interesting question. No-brainer answer. YES!!! (And it is even more despicable to watch the "system" rationalize it in all its steps!) That system (a true example of "trickle-down" ethics) is drenched in decisions of profit and convenience for the system, but with little respect for the welfare and highest good of the child. Truth be told, if a child's life and emotional well-being were not at stake, observing the dynamics is almost perversely humorous. Many "systemic sustainers" who love, at times, to use the monicker "healer" ... should hightail it for the Cannes movie festival!

With long experience working with foster care in this state, and observing the abuses from which "the system" dispassionately turns its eyes, I remain convinced that most foster care is a necessary evil.

Sitting in a case management meeting is a head-shaking experience, and is often a microcosm of the dysfunction of our culture. The motto might as well have been, "Save and accrue the buck, so that it passes state investigation (generally a travesty of a process anyway!), but the kid be damned!"

Any professional adult (mental health care, foster care and group home systems, social services, etc.) who interrupts this schizophrenic process is more at risk than one of the state's abused children. Many of these children, who are in a foster home due to a "stated" effort to save them from abusive homes, receive even more abuse in foster homes ... sexual and otherwise. Emotional abuse, because "we can't leave marks", is sometimes so horrific that one wonders how the child can put one single confident foot into the next day. To make matter even worse, when the kids' behaviors sometimes reflect the corruption of the systems, they again are harshly punished.  The old "blame the victim" paradigm. The systemic efforts to cover up are interesting and oh-ever-so-slick!

If you are interested in less-than-unimpressive outcomes (and isn't that the operant word in federal and state care?!), give this site a glance.  You may find yourselves shocked:

It was a rare foster parent with whom I worked whose TRUE caring for the children they had in their care, put the highest good of the child as a priority. Oh, they talked a good game, but were generally so transparent, the process was "Ridiculosity Unplugged"!  It did not take ten minutes, combined with a good amount of intuition, to understand that the money (not insignificant, I might add) drove the foster parents. Many had up to 3-5 foster children in their home. Multiply what the parents get for that, along with benefits for the child, and you will begin to get the point. Of course, I get that it costs money to raise a child in any family, but when one really adds up the "change", outside of any foster parents' income, it is quite interesting! Many natural parents would be thrilled to be receiving the money and benefits into their family coffers.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.: Mitt Romney's Test of Moral Fiber

I was surprised when Mitt Romney's son, Matt, resuscitated the "birther" issue in New Hampshire on December 29. Speaking at a campaign event, the young Romney deflected a question about his father's refusal to release his income tax return by citing a proposal that President Barack Obama should first release his own birth certificate. Mr. Romney, who has since retracted his statement, apparently did not realize that, at White House urging, the state of Hawaii released the president's long form birth certificate on April 25, 2011.......

"What Will Love Give You?" Dr. Margaret Paul

Did you grow up believing that if only someone REALLY loved you in the way you needed to be loved, then you would feel happy, safe, lovable and worthy?

Certainly being truly loved by parents goes a long way toward supporting children in feeling safe and lovable, but it is not the whole story. Even if your parents did love you the way you needed to be loved, if they didn’t role-model loving themselves, then it is likely you absorbed their forms of self-abandonment – judging themselves, turning to various addictions to manage their feelings, and making others responsible for their feelings and sense of worth....

"The Making of the 99%"| The Nation

“Class happens when some men, as a result of common experiences (inherited or shared), feel and articulate the identity of their interests as between themselves, and as against other men whose interests are different from (and usually opposed to) theirs.” —E.P. Thompson, The Making of the English Working Class   The “other men” (and of course women) in the current American class alignment are those in the top 1 percent of the wealth distribution—the bankers, hedge-fund managers and CEOs targeted by the Occupy Wall Street movement. They have been around for a long time in one form or another, but they began to emerge as a distinct and visible group, informally called the “superrich,” only in recent years.

WINDS OF CHANGE for Republicans, Independents, and Democrats ~ Warren Buffet

This morning I received an email being passed around, from Warren Buffet, written in October.  After verifying it through Snopes.com, and discerning that it was refreshing (especially when written by the 1%!), I decided to post it.  It is, as follows:

Winds of Change....
Warren Buffet is asking each addressee to forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.

In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around.

   Congressional Reform Act of 2011

1. No Tenure / No Pension.
A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they're out of office.

2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.
All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void effective 1/1/12. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen/women. Congressmen/women made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S.) to receive the message. Don't you think it's time?

THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS!

Ernesto Ortiz: "The Akashic Records, One Sure Constant Thing...."

The Akashic Records,
One Sure Constant Thing…

© by Ernesto Ortiz
The fact that we are living in the age of technological advancement and achievement is no mystery, we just have to look back ten to fifteen years. It is quite amazing what we can do now from our homes with computer technology.
Scott Gardner, knowledge management expert explained at the annual meeting for the SMART Toronto Technology Association in early 2003:
The world’s collective library of recorded information is expected to double every 11 hours by the year 2010
So what? We may ask;
It took a millennium and a half (from the year 1 A.D. to the year 1500 A.D.) for humankind's knowledge base to double. It is now doubling about every 15 months.
Eight years from now, it will be doubling every half-day.
Will you be able to keep up when everything you thought you knew at breakfast becomes obsolete before dinner?
So the question is, what will remain constant and true in our lives?
The one thing that does are the laws of Nature. The laws of cause and effect, law of gravity, law of abundance, law of growth, law of love and more.
Our ancestors studied these laws and where able to get to the point of understanding and master the art of living with nature. Living in balance and harmony is an art; it is the art of co-creation. As long as we identify and understand the role of nature in our lives, and how these laws of nature mirror us humans from within, we can then have a greater understanding about ourselves.
The amount of technology out there is mind boggling, so much information built into some of the items we use in our daily lives. Like our cell phones, have many features built in that we don’t need or use. How much time we spend in trying to learn these instruments? PDA’s, cell phones, computers etc. and by the time we do the new one is already out.

Index

All of this is external stuff, and all of it comes with a manual. If we really want to understand it and use it properly, we have to take the time to read and apply what we have learned to the machine. All of this takes precious time, and even then most of the features we will not need or use.
At times I have thought the most complicated and beautiful creation is the human being. It is too bad we don’t come with an instruction manual so our parents, friends and most of all ourselves can read and understand the intricacies of the self.
There is a blue print, a matrix that is built in or encoded within the self. Our DNA plays a big role in this, also ancestral genealogy influences this blue print; we can label it many different things, past lives, Karma, or encoded DNA. The bottom line is, there are patterns sitting in our sub conscious that get activated at different times in our lives that make us do, and act and re-act to situations in many strange ways. That reaction sometimes is very surprising to us. When this happens we can then question, how is it that I reacted like that? Or where that did come from?
Often when our curiosity or desire to know is activated, what many of us do is to go “without” instead of “within” to look for answers to our inner most questions. We may feel something brewing deep within, a desire, or longing. Sometimes we feel uncomfortable because of the way we are handling situations, especially with people we love.
So what do we do…? We go outside the self. We have made some psychics very rich and famous by taking to them many important questions about our inner process. If we don’t we retreat to other worldly distractions, like video games, TV, rock music, gossiping with friends, tarot card readers, palm readers, fortune tellers, etc.
We humans are constantly looking for several things, we make them a life long quest; these things are Love, knowledge, acceptance and validation.
We move through life searching for someone to come and validate our process, someone to share his or her wisdom and knowledge. But life goes on and we continue facing our complications and dealing with the stress of life.
Why do we go outside the self if we have heard and possibly know that “we contain within all the knowledge and wisdom we need”? No one knows more about ourselves that we do!
About 10 years ago I was introduced to the Akashic Records. I remembered reading in different sacred scriptures about the Book of Life or the Book of Knowledge, and also about Akasha.
That word “Akasha” captivated me. It had an energy that took me deep within. It has been my understanding that on this realm, in the Hall of Records there is a volume, a Book of Life that contains our souls progress since inception.
“Wow, cool, very cool if that is the case, where do I go to read it? How do I access this magnificent document”?
The Akashic Records are primordial substance it is the realm where all souls information is contained. It is past, present and the possibility of the unfoldment of future events.
I was taught to open my Akashic Records and it has been the most valuable spiritual tool that I have had in the past ten years.
Going back to Scott Gardner’s information, tells me that all accumulated knowledge will be old or obsolete with the planetary acceleration we are experiencing; though my need for validation and personal knowledge will continue. One thing I do know “universal laws are constant”. The Akashic Records are constant. My spirituality is constant, and that I will continue seeking for Truth and personal knowledge.
Opening the Akashic Records is simple, and every time I “go there” I get a greeting, an outpour of love and compassion from the Lords of Akasha, from the Masters and Teachers. The Akashic Records are the manual, the guidebook for my life. No, I don’t use the Records as a crutch to validate my every day moves, I certainly exercise my free will, but for deep guidance and direction about my life, for inspiration about classes that I teach, lectures, art projects and more, the Akashic Records and the guidance from Masters and Teachers are there.
Opening the Akashic Records is simple. Most of my students are blown away at the simplicity of entering the Akashic realm. Spirit wants to make things simple for us; it is we humans that complicate things. The Akashic Records are part of an ancient tradition and the way is taught and passed is via the oral tradition. There is so much more to learn about the Records other than a simple “Sacred Prayer” to open them. We have to learn how to communicate with the Lords of Akasha and how to translate the information we receive, with this we become confident of our connection and communication, and we open ourselves up to the most caring and sincere guidance and Love.
The Akashic Records are encoded Light language, which is Sacred geometry or words encoded in fire, so learning how to interpret the information is crucial. We start learning to use our inner senses to give words and interpretation to what we receive; we also start getting fine-tuned to this new energy. One of the most important things to know in this communication is the “art of questioning”, in doing this we can get deep, very deep in our conversations with the Masters and Teachers. From these depths of the self is where most significant healing occurs, patterns of addiction, codependency and more surface so we can gain clarity and understanding. Then we can exercise one of the most beautiful gifts we posses, the gift of free will and choice to make the necessary changes in our lives.
Working with my Akashic Records almost daily is wonderful but having the opportunity to open the Records for someone else is an incredible experience, one that I honor and treasure as sacred. The personal transformation that people go through as the result of the energy from the Records is incredible. People can receive information and validation about issues in their lives, while receiving an energy that is most delicious and healing.
We can say that the information is coming to satisfy our need to know, and validate. The energy is coming to heal, as we feel accepted and loved.
As the times change and information change, retreat to the knowledge and wisdom of the Akashic Records for your growth and guidance.

This I assure you will be a most beautiful and profound guiding light in your life.
