Claim It Is A 'Spying Machine'

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange recently said in an interview that Facebook is "the most appalling spying machine that has ever been invented." Alleging that the social network is vulnerable to "pressure" from U.S. Intelligence, Assange said that the government could potentially exploit user data stored on the network.

Facebook offered a rebuttal on Tuesday.

"We don't respond to pressure, we respond to compulsory legal process," a Facebook spokesperson told Forbes. "There has never been a time we have been pressured to turn over data -- we fight every time we believe the legal process is insufficient."

A recent document, purportedly leaked from Facebook, states that most of your personal data and networking activities are subject to subpoena by police. In addition, it's well-known that authorities use Facebook at times to obtain information about suspects.

"The legal standards for compelling a company to turn over data are determined by the laws of the country, and we respect that standard," the Facebook rep told Forbes on Tuesday.

Julian Assange Given Peace Prize

Julian Assange, the founder of whistle-blowing website WikiLeaks, has been awarded an award “for exceptional courage in pursuit of human rights”.

Mr Assange was given the Sydney Peace Medal at a ceremony at the Frontline Club in central London today.

The Sydney Peace Foundation said that it was making the award to recognise Mr in recognition of the need “for greater transparency and accountability of governments”.

Professor Stuart Rees, director of the foundation, said: “By challenging centuries old practices of government secrecy and by championing people’s right to know, WikiLeaks and Julian Assange have created the potential for a new order in journalism and in the free flow of information.”

Speaking at the event, Mr Assange referred to whistleblowers as “heroes” and said it appeared the website had played a “significant role” in the recent Arab uprisings in north Africa by releasing US diplomatic cables in December that were later translated into Arabic and French.

He said WikiLeaks was part of England’s historic “free speech traditions, these go back in the UK to the time of the English Civil War of the 1640s”. He said: “The real value of this award, and the Sydney Peace Foundation is that it makes explicit the link between peace and justice.

We all come into the world with a divine blueprint – the unique guide to our spiritual evolution. And while we may all share this in common, our blueprints are customized and tailored to help us meet our own personal spiritual goals.
As parents, we certainly want what’s best for our children. But how parents relate to their children, in terms of expectations, is typically a function of what parents deem as “best”. Except in cases of abuse and neglect, most parents mean well when they prescribe or dictate certain goals, standards or aspirations for their children. But many parents may be shocked to learn that what they consider to be dedicated and responsible parenting, often constitutes a trespass across the boundaries of free will.
For example, I know a 12-year-old boy who has “professional” parents. His father is a lawyer and mother is a doctor. His parents want what’s best for their son, so they insist that he pull all “A’s” in the advanced-level classes where they insisted he be placed. Furthermore, they tell him that he must become either a doctor or lawyer when he grows up.
The boy, despite 3-4 hours of homework per night, does not get A’s, or even B’s. He is in over his head and stressed all the time. He’s unhappy and feels like a constant disappointment to his parents and dreads the prospect of following a career path that doesn’t serve his interests or resonate with his passion or gifts.
The boy has his heart set on working with aquatic mammals. But at the young age of 12, he spends his days under an oppressive parental cloud that not only over-shadows his childhood, but threatens to co-opt is future as well.
As parents, we simply haven’t the right to predetermine or confine the interests and pursuits of our children. We must keep them fed, housed, clothed, loved and cared for – but we mustn’t trespass on their free will.
We are each entitled to our one shot at a given lifetime. But many parents attempt to garnish the lives of their children either out of compulsion for control, or because they view their children’s lives as virtual second-chances as unrequited dreams.
To paraphrase from The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran, our children come to us and through us – but not from us. Parents are as bows – while children are as arrows. It is our job to maximize the ability of our arrows to fly as far and straight as possible – but in the direction of the arrow’schoice – not the bow’s.
While conscientious parenting is commendable, sometimes less is more. When we rein ourselves in a bit, we allow our children room to breathe and grow in the direction of the light.  Just as a flower turns its face toward the sun naturally, and without external guidance – so too, is our divine blue print self evident.
Too many restrictions on free will can lead to short and long terms effects of depleted self-confidence, lowered self-esteem, resentment, substance use or abuse and/or reactionary backlash. In extreme circumstances suicidal thought or tendencies may result. This is because free will is the soil that embeds the spirit. Restrict it – and you eliminate the sun, water and air supply.
True happiness can not be attained through material means. Occupations, money and status can not, in and of themselves, constitute the completion of one’s soul. Only those behaviors that resonate with the frequency of one’s vibrations can result in true happiness, and as parents, we have no greater responsibility than to shelter, support and facilitate our children’s spiritual growth.
So keep your child safe and well – but from a healthy distance.    Support them in the directions they choose and love them for who they are, unconditionally – with no strings attached. Allow them to explore what the world has to offer (both from within and without) and allow them to listen to the voice that speaks to them from their center. For it is their own inner voice – that speaks only to them – that holds the key to their Divine blueprint and the path that will ultimately maximize the potentialities of their spirit.

Students and Teachers Fight Education Cuts in North Carolina

On Tuesday, May 3rd, thousands of demonstrators gathered in front of the North Carolina State legislators to oppose budgets cuts to public education up to $1 billion dollars. Carol Reiner, a teacher in the Southern High School says that the elite does not want minorities to get educated. If people are not educated they will not stand for their rights. “No politician who claims to have the best interests of our people should prioritize putting money in the pockets of millionaires over the education of our children” says Alexander Chaffee, a North Carolina student.

Chartered Schools are part of a larger program in order to replace Public Schools. Could it be that Chartered Schools are part of a hidden agenda to get rid of Public Schools and turn Education into something that certain individuals would profit from. Is this another way of favoring wealthy people and of control? Are we losing the rights that people have been fighting for over three hundred years in the United  States. I am very glad to see so many people mobilize for this Education issue. Lets just hope that they will be heard and have an avalanche effect in order to awake more and more Americans.

A child classed as Indigo children is usually recognized as intelligent, gifted, free-spirited and creative, an "outside-the-box" thinker who has little patience for repetitive tasks or doing things the same old way. An Indigo Children is reportedly very resistant to authority, has a sense of himself as supremely worthy, and bears an overweening confidence in his own place in the world. When others do not share the child's exalted opinion of himself, the Indigo childrentends to turn inward, making him seem shy or antisocial.

There are four subcategories of Indigo Children:

* the outgoing, opinionated "Humanist;"
* the introverted and task-oriented "Conceptualist;"
* the sensitive and creative "Artist;"
* the bullying but spiritually powerful "Interdimensional."

In the United States the number of people hospitalised for prescription drug abuse has increased four hundred percent in the past ten years.

The small town of Portsmouth, Ohio is the epicentre of the problem.

Over thirty people - many in their early twenties - have died from prescription drug abuse.

One in ten babies born in Scioto County (Sy-oh-toe) last year tested positive for drugs.

Fatal overdoses have surpassed car crashes as the leading cause of accidental death in Ohio.

I met Andrea Queen, a reformed abuser at her new place of work in Portsmouth a clinic helping today's abusers. 

A friend told Andrea to take a prescription pill one evening - "just to get the party going," he said.  It led to a habit that nearly killed her.  She told me:

"This growing sense of paranoia helped convince me that I needed to take myself out of this world that killing myself would be the one way out."

Ed Hughes is the Executive Director of The Counseling Center Inc and has been charting the rise of prescription drug abuse in Ohio.  He shows me a series of maps showing the counties in the State ... each one he hands me gets progressively redder in colour.

"We had high admissions for opiate addictions in 2001 and then when we look eight years later in 2009."

Street clinics known as Pill Mills dole out the highly addictive opiate Oxycotton (OxyContin is the official name) to anyone with the money to pay for it some doctors in the area are cashing in on this big business. Ed told me:Scioto County is an area once known for steel and shoe making but which now has one of the highest rates of prescription drug abuse in the state of Ohio...and the country

."Most of the time they're doctors that have become marginalised in their profession they're, you know, they've had problems with their practice or problems with their hospitals ...more than one of the Pill Mills here in our community are owned and operated by people who have had past felony drug offences."

Andrea's recovering from the prescription drug hell that almost ended her life and now counsels others .. with a warning:
"Don't do it doesn't get the party going it gets the addiction going."

Not everybody recovers from prescription drug abuse and a wall in the display window of an empty department store in Portsmouth is testimony to that.

It contains the names of thirty six people who have died in this area as a result of abusing prescription drugs.

Joanna Krohns knows this all too well.  She lost her son Wes when he accidentally shot himself while high on painkillers.  She's now started a group called Solace to help other grieving parents.

"When you lose a child it's such a devastating thing I didn't really know where to turn, who to turn talk to and I thought if I can just reach out to other parents give them somebody to talk to give them hope so that's kind of what I did."

The wall in downtown Portsmouth containing so many young faces - the majority were around the age of twenty two - is heartbreaking to look at.

Easy access to painkillers right across America means many more are likely to lose their lives too.

Dowsing and Raymon Grace

I have had the honor of attending days of Raymond Grace dowsing training.  I confess, there was a part of the skeptic in me that needed satisfying. In hindsight, I know that I did not have a deeper knowledge of energy ... how it works ... and how we can access it. What does one of the most highly-regarded spiritual leaders in the world think about the death of Osama bin Laden?

The Dalai Lama weighed in on the killing of bin Laden Tuesday while speaking at the University of Southern California. The Tibetan Buddhist leader seemed to imply that the United States was justified in taking out the al Qaeda leader. According to the Los Angeles Times, the 75-year-old leader said:

"Forgiveness doesn't mean forget what happened... If something is serious and it is necessary to take counter-measures, you have to take counter-measures."

The speech, entitled "Secular Ethics, Human Values and Society," was given during the Dalai Lama's first visit to the U.S. since stepping down as the daily political leader of the Tibetan government in exile. The Los Angeles Times reports that, while his views on bin Laden are making headlines, the speech was largely focused on spiritual matters.

The purported Bin Laden raid hoax gets kookier by the minute. The account has already changed multiple times over as the Pentagon and the White House do not seem to be able to get their story straight with each other. The entire debacle is only serving to throw up more questions and create more doubt over the legitimacy of the entire fable.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters Tuesday “Even I am confused” when he was questioned over the exact details of the Navy SEAL raid on the so called “compound”.

Carney made of number of revisions to the original account that was relayed Monday by Deputy National Security Adviser John Brennan and other Pentagon officials.

While Brennan had said that Bin Laden engaged in a firefight with US commandos and resisted capture, Carney told reporters that the al qaeda leader “was not armed”.

“He [bin Laden] was engaged in a firefight with those that entered the area of the house he was in. And whether or not he got off any rounds, I quite frankly don’t know,” Brennan had said Monday. Other pentagon officials told the same story earlier in the day.

When questioned on Tuesday, however, Carney said that “resistance does not require a firearm” but directed questions about how bin Laden “resisted” to the Pentagon. This followed a background, off-camera briefing for television reporters later Monday, during which a senior White House official said bin Laden was not armed when he was killed.

Pakistani officials have even suggested that there wasn’t even a shot fired in the raid, which contradicts the US government assertion that al qaeda henchmen were firing indiscriminately at the special ops team.

Details about the use of a woman as a human shield have also been chopped and changed multiple times.

At a Pentagon briefing early on Monday, a senior defense official said bin Laden was hiding behind a woman so he could get shots away at the US soldiers. “He was firing behind her,” the official said.

This was then expounded upon by Brennan who said Bin Laden was “hiding behind women who were put in front of him as a shield,”

A woman killed in the raid was bin Laden’s wife, Brennan said: “She was positioned in a way that indicated that she was being used as a shield.”

Yet later that account was altered by another Pentagon official who claimed Bin Laden’s wife was “injured but not killed,” and that “A different guy’s wife was killed”.

Then yet another official familiar with the operation said it did not appear that any woman was used as a human shield.

Then Tuesday, Press Secretary Carney said that when Bin Laden was approached, the Al Qaeda leader’s “wife” rushed the US forces. The woman was shot in the leg but not killed, Carney said.

Conveniently, this wife who was dead, but then not dead, has also now identified Bin Laden’s body both to the Navy SEALs and Pakistani authorities. You know, the body they dumped in the sea, and the Pakistani authorities that were not involved, but then were involved and then were not involved again.

Another part of the story that has been revised is Brennan’s assertion that Bin Laden’s son Khalid was killed in the attack. However, the official White House transcript of the on the record briefing states that it was a different son named Hamza, who was killed.

Quite why Brennan had gotten these fundamental details wrong is unclear given that he was one of the officials supposedly watching the entire raid via a live video feed.

Carney also noted that there is a discrepancy in the number of floors raided by the SEAL team inside the luxury mansion “compound”, a description in itself that has since been seriously questioned given that the dwelling had no air conditioning, had damp and growing around it and contained only a small triangular plot of land at the back, according to reporters on the scene.

In addition, the value of the property, originally said to be $1 million dollars, is way off the mark according to property professionals in Abbottabad, who say it is worth less than a quarter of that amount.

In short, it is a less than attractive house that is nothing out of the ordinary for where it is located, which is most likely why the people in the immediate vicinityfind it laughable and beyond ridiculous to suggest that they were neighbours of Osama Bin Laden for six years.

Why can’t the government get it’s story straight? Is the White House intentionally muddying the waters to divert attention to the minutia of the event and away from the fact that the entire scenario is on it’s face ludicrous? Or are they just flat out lying through their teeth?
